Halloween 2009 - Dressing up

So another successful Halloween! It actually went pretty smoothly. I think it had something to do with spreading it out over a few days. It always seems so stressful to do all the school activities and then head off to the night activities. This year it was nice to take it all in at a little slower pace. 6th graders aren't allowed to dress-up and participate in the school parade, but they do get to dress up like Egyptians and do skits! Halle was super excited to be in the Parade this year. She "flew" on her broom the whole way.Attention! Parker chose to be a soldier. I loved this costume when Braden wore it, and it was just as cute on Parker.Halle wanted to wear her last years costume. I said great, cause I always like free!Braden was an Evil Jester. Parker was scared of him.Connor is growing up! He didn't really want to dress up. He did eventually put on a Ninja costume and Trick or Treat a little.Braden and his friend Ethan have made it a tradition to always dress the same.Hanging with friends is what makes it so fun. Thanks to Sherri and the girls for taking Halle and Parker Trick or Treating once our Trunk or Treat was over. Olivia stole my idea! Some of us are just too tired to really enjoy the holiday!
We hope you all had a Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween 2009 - Night of Pumpkins!

It all started out with our Sunday dinner that was all about pumpkins! Starting with our "dinner in a pumpkin". Sher wanted to give this recipe a try. I did a few things wrong and it didn't turn out so great, but it sure looked cute!! We also had salad with pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pies for dessert.
Our "Night of Pumpkins" wouldn't have been complete without a little pumpkin carving. (I guess Mike and Braden didn't get enough pumpkin at dinner!)Parker was lucky enough and so happy to be able to "carve" two of his very own. Thanks Daddy!

All the pumpkins turned out to be works of art.

Good job everyone!

Mike attempted to carve John Lennon. I think it turned out pretty good. Maybe a bit abstract, but I can see it!!Thanks Mike and Sherrie for hanging out with us. We always have so much fun with you!

Happy Halloween!!

Choir Concert

Connor is a member of the Junior High Men's chorus. A few weeks ago, he came home and told me he auditioned for a solo and that it was down to him and another boy. Then he came home a week or so ago and said that he got the part. Needless to say, I was shocked! Not necessarily because he got the part, just because he was brave enough to do it. Well tonight was the big night. His part wasn't anything that I expected, but it was TOTALLY Connor. (Sorry the recording is so bad. That's what happens when you try to video tape using a regular camera, with a wiggling 3 year old sitting on your lap!)

So there you have it! He has such a fun personality! Rod is trying to figure out where exactly he came from since he doesn't fit our mold! He thinks the milkman might have something to do with it! We are just grateful to have his fun and out-going spirit in our family!!

Our Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's House

This weekend we headed up North to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We always have a good time. They work hard to make sure we have plenty to do and EAT! I love to see the kids spend time with their Grandparents making memories and relationships that will last forever! We have gone to visit in October for several years now, but it always seems to fall on the first really cold week of the year! I think we might have to move our annual trip up a few weeks, then maybe we'll be able to do a few outdoor activities too. Halle and Parker and I snuck outside to go on a walk, but it was a little too cold and windy for the kids to really enjoy it.
The boys heading off to Conference, looking sharp!! This is the last time they'll go without Braden.
This is what the boys did for the majority of the time. They each got on a computer and played games. (We'd have to drag them away!)
The girls did a lot of reading books and coloring in the new Halloween Coloring books.
Parker was not feeling well Saturday evening, so I was lucky enough to get to sit and hold him.Sunday, Parker was feeling better. Mom decided that we should have an early birthday celebration for him and got him a new tractor. He now thinks he is four, even though it won't be official for two more months. The kids played some Gamecube, and even got Grandma to join in. Thanks Grandma for being such a good sport! We had fun playing games. Bingo was my favorite, but Wesley dominated on Pit. We had a great time, as always! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for showing us such a fun time.
WE LOVE YOU BOTH VERY MUCH!!!!

Golfing with Grandpa

So while I was out shopping for wedding dresses with my Mom and Cindi, my Dad took Connor and Wesley golfing. I was so impressed that Grandpa remembered to take some pictures. I had just been thinking that I never post anything about the older boys because they don't like to hang out with me. I'm grateful to have these pictures to post and although Mom already did it on the family blog, I wanted to have them for my family album. The boys love their Grandpa. They love to go fishing and golfing with him. Looking cool! (Are sleeveless t-shirts allowed on golf courses?)

Aside from a few directions problems, the boy's kept up with their Grandpa.

Connor had been dying to go golfing with Grandpa, he really wanted to drive a golf cart. I hope Wesley was nice and shared!
Thanks Dad for spending some time with the boys and teaching them to golf. I'm sure it will be a memory they will always cherish! We Love you!
