San Clemente Beach Trip 2008

We spent last week in California camping on the beach. Well, not directly on the beach, but at a campground on the cliffs above the beach. Although camping is so much work, it really was a good trip and we had so much fun. Rod's sister, Nancy, has done this trip now every year for several years and last year she finally convinced us to join her. This year we thought we'd try it again and we were so glad we did. We were able to borrow a trailer to make things a little more comfortable. We also were able to spend a lot of time with our good friends the Jensen's, who also stay at the exact same campground on the exact same week every year! What a great time. We enjoyed spending time with the kids. It was hard to send Rod back to work after having him close by for a week, but someone has to pay for the gas!!!
Parker didn't really care for the water at first. Finally on the last two days he decided it was a lot of fun. He mostly just sat around and played in the sand and ate.

And ate...

And ate!!!!
Halle loved building sand castles...
playing in the water...

playing with Parker and Syd...

and just taking it easy!!
Braden didn't want to go this year, but ended up having a great time. He liked boogie boarding, and hanging with his cousins.

So much seaweed! Yuck!!
Connor loves the beach. He was the one who was always asking for someone to go out in the water with him. He just couldn't sit for long.

Thank goodness for brothers, built in friends!

Wesley is a beach bum at heart. He was thrilled to try surfing this year. With his dark tan and good looks he could live in California and fit right in!

Wes especially enjoyed all the teenagers. Nancy's kids brought friends and so counting Wesley there were seven 15 year olds!!

They all had so much fun together. They were great to include even the younger kids!

I loved the chance I got to sit and read or just kick back and watch my kids have fun.

I thought I had to resort to taking pictures of myself to prove I was there, but....

Parker took one for me!!!

Rod actually seemed to enjoy himself this year. He loved getting the chance to read...

And hang out with his sister, Nancy, and her husband, Stan.

That is a brief glimpse of our time at the beach. More to come on some of the other fun things we did!!

Hi Julie, What I did was go to the blog dashboard and then go to layout and then I added a new page element and it was the blog list. Then I just added in each blogs url and it updates now!
I was looking at that house the other day and I started remembering how all of us used to cram into Grandma's little house sometimes for even a week or two! Remember those days?

Hey again, No that picture was taken in the morning and I don't go to work until the night. I'm at home now trying to go to sleep. I see you got the blogs to update.

What great fun - that's something we should talk about doing. The trailer thing is a great idea, cheaper reservations and you don't have to eat out - you have a built-in kitchen.

You have the cutest kids in the world.

Funny how kids never want to do anything but actually enjoy themselves once they're there! Seems like everyone had a good time.

What a FUN time! I've been craving something like that with just the four of us! I love not having any obligations for a while, just you and your family! I'm glad it was such a good time!

That looks like so much fun, I love the beach. Not so much right now because I am afraid I would look to much like a beached whale!
Oh, and to respond to a comment you made on my blog, you have no idea how much I am looking forward to getting back my running partner too! I am counting down the days! Though you may have to slow down quite a bit for me!

It looked like you had a fabulous time! I love the picture Parker took. You take whatever you can get when you are the one always holding the camera.

How fun! Wish we could have joined you all. Maybe next year. I agree with the others, you look so cute in that hat. Your kids are gorgeous and look so grown up! I love the pictures of Parker eating. It made me laugh to read your comments. xoxoxo Heidi

Wow! What a fun vacation with the family, perfect for the kids. Playing in the water and sand with friends and family is all they want to do anyway. Cute pictures of all the beach bum kiddos with there California tans. I'm glad we got to see you in the pics and that the trailer made it a little better for mom this year. :)
